October 2020: moving some hosta
and putting in 100 tulips
We want to join to patches of hosta with a short semi-circle around the mock orange. Oct. 3 felt like a good day to dig.
First we trimmed the dead wood out of the mock orange and bagged that up.

Then to the hosta

A little ragged, but we hope it will even out in the spring.

We dug up the corner bed, improved the soil (we hope), and put in 100 tulips

Golf balls knocked over the fence 25 years ago by a former neighbor helped with spacing

Digging the soil was the hard part

The hydrangeas we put in this spring did not do very well

Also in the mix was the crabapple tree. We had to pull a lot of clematis out of it

As it was in September (above)

And below, with the vines pulled out
